Why is my laptop keyboard not working properly?

Q: Why does my laptop keyboard sometimes not work properly?
Sometimes, my laptop keyboard doesn't work properly. Im pretty sure nothing is wrong with the keyboard because I can still press cntrl + s and save pops up, or a number and the numbers pop up when I type. I can still turn up/down the sound, and press some of the buttons. But when I go to type, ie search on google or type in word, the letters just don't come out. Thanks My laptop has no numlock or any "lock" button other than caps lock
A: Check if NumLock is on. On some laptops activating NumLock will disable half the keyboard and turn the other half into a number pad. Usually to enable/disable NumLock you have to hold the FN key in the bottom left corner and look for the NumLock key towards the top right.
